Sexual Harassment Policy
Objective:
The Mangy Moose Steakhouse and Saloon is committed to providing
a work environment that is free from all forms of discrimination and
conduct that can be considered harassing, abusive, coercive and
disruptive, including sexual and other types of harassment. Actions,
words, jokes or comments based on an individual’s sex, race, color,
national origin, age, religion, disability, pregnancy, sexual orientation,
gender identity, gender expression, veteran status, military duty,
genetic information or any other legally protected characteristic will
not be tolerated.
Harassment Will Not Be Tolerated:
ALL employees, including hourly employees, members of ownership
and management are prohibited from engaging in harassment of any
type. The Mangy Moose will take every appropriate step to ensure that
its employees are not subjected to harassment by guest, vendors, and
members of public. Harassment will never be tolerated and will result
in disciplinary action, up to and including immediate termination of
employment. Non-employee violators of our policy are subject to
expulsion from the Mangy Moose building.
Harassment Defined:
Harassment is a pattern of physical and/or verbal conduct that a
reasonable employee would find intimidating, undesirable, or offensive
and has the purpose of interfering with an employee’s work
performance or creates a hostile work environment.
The types of conduct that are prohibited by this policy and that may
constitute harassment but not limited to the following:
Verbal Conduct (derogatory comments)
Visual Conduct (derogatory media)
Physical Conduct (derogatory movement)
Online Conduct (derogatory social postings)
Sexual Harassment Defined:
Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, request
for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual
nature, when:
Submission to conduct made either explicitly or
implicitly a term or condition of employment.
Submission to or rejection of conduct that is used
as the basis for employment decisions affecting
an individual.
Such conduct that has the purpose, affect or
unreasonably interfering with work performance
or creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive
work environment.
Specific examples of Sexual Harassment include:
Unwelcome sexual advance or propositions
Unwanted physical contact of any type
Physical violence, including sexual assault
Sexual jokes, suggestive noises and comments
Display of sexually explicit materials
Reporting Harassment is Everyone’s Responsibility:
The Mangy Moose can only remedy harassment which you bring
to our attention. To give us the opportunity to address and prevent
future occurrences, it is everyone responsibility to IMMEDIATELY
report any conduct that they believe may violate this policy. Always
report any behavior as soon as possible.
Employees should immediately report conduct to management at
the restaurant. If the employee feels they cannot report it to that
manager, they should contact the General Manager. If the employee
feels they cannot report it to the General Manager, they should contact
the Owner. Any employee can raise concerns and make reports
without fear of reprisal or retaliation.
Investigation of Claims:
Your concerns will be investigated promptly, and appropriate
action will be taken in the event that violations of the policy have
occurred. All complaints will be kept in the strictest confidence, unless
it is necessary in the investigation.
Depending on the nature of the harassment, discipline can
include, but not limited to, counseling, suspension without pay, and/or
termination of employment.
False accusations of harassment can have serious effects on other
employees and the culture of The Mangy Moose. If a complaining
employee, after investigation, has maliciously or recklessly made a false
accusation, they will be subject to discipline, up to and including
termination of employment.
